I think shopping ought to be fun, so I've created a site for fun. Even if you don't buy anything, at least you will have had a laugh or two along the way.

A Dictionary of Useful Research Phrases
Research Phrase Translation
It has long been known... I didn't look up the original reference.
A definite trend is evident... These data are practically meaningless.
Of great theoretical and practical importance... Interesting to me.
While it has not been possible to provide definite answers to these questions... An unsuccessful experiment, but I still hope to get it published.
Three of the samples were chosen for detailed study... The results of the others didn't make any sense.
Typical results are shown... The best results are shown.
These results will be shown in a subsequent report... I might get around to this sometime if I'm pushed.
The most reliable results are those obtained by Jones... He was my graduate assistant.
It is believed that... I think.
It is generally believed that... A couple of other people think so too.
It is clear that much additional work will be required before
a complete understanding of the phenomenon occurs... I don't understand it.
Correct within an order of magnitude... Wrong.
It is hoped that this study will stimulate further investigation in this field...
This is a lousy paper, but so are all the others on this
miserable topic.
Thanks are due to Joe Blotz for assistance with the experiment
and to George Frink for valuable discussions... Blotz did the work and Frink explained to me what it meant.
A careful analysis of obtainable data... Three pages of notes were obliterated when I knocked over a
glass of beer.
1. Ancient Egypt was inhabited by mummies and they all wrote in hydraulics. They lived in the Sarah Dessert and traveled by Camelot.
The climate of the Sarah is such that the inhabitants have to live elsewhere.
2. The Bible is full of interesting caricatures. In the first book of the Bible, Guinessis, Adam and Eve were created from an apple tree. One
of their children, Cain, asked, "Am I my brother's son?"
3. Moses led the Hebrew slaves to the Red Sea, where they made unleavened bread which is bread made without any ingredients.
Moses went up on Mount Cyanide to get the ten commandments. He died before he ever reached Canada.
4. Solomom had three hundred wives and seven hundred porcupines.
5. The Greeks were a highly sculptured people, and without them we wouldn't have history. The Greeks also had myths. A myth is a
female moth.
6. Actually, Homer was not written by Homer but by another man of that name.
7. Socrates was a famous Greek teacher who went around giving people advice. They killed him. Socrates died from an overdose of
wedlock. After his death, his career suffered a dramatic decline.
The other day I went up to a local Christian bookstore and saw a honk if you love Jesus bumper sticker.
I was feeling particularly sassy that day because I had just come from a thrilling choir performance, followed by a thunderous prayer meeting, so I bought the sticker and
put in on my bumper.
I was stopped at a red light at a busy intersection, just lost in thought about the Lord and how good He is and I didn't notice that the light had changed.
It is a good thing someone else loves Jesus because if he hadn't honked, I'd never have noticed..
I found that LOTS of people love Jesus. Why, while I was sitting there, the guy behind started honking like crazy, and when he leaned out of his window and screamed, "for
the love of God, GO! GO!" What an exuberant cheerleader he was for Jesus.
Everyone started honking! I just leaned out of my window and started waving and smiling at all these loving people.
I even honked my horn a few times to share in the love. There must have been a man from Florida back there because I heard him yelling something about a sunny
beach...
I saw another guy waving in a funny way with only his middle finger stuck up in the air. When I asked my teenage grandson in the back seat what that meant, he said that it
was probably a Hawaiian good luck sign or something.
Well, I've never met anyone from Hawaii, so I leaned out the window and gave him the good luck sign back.
My grandson burst out laughing, why even he was enjoying this religious experience.
A couple of the people were so caught up in the joy of the moment that they got out of their cars and started walking towards me.
I bet they wanted to pray or ask what church I attended, but this is when I noticed the light had changed.
So, I waved to all my sisters and brothers grinning, and drove on through the intersection.
I noticed I was the only car that got through the intersection before the light changed again and I felt kind of sad that I had to leave them after all the love we had shared, so I
slowed the car down, leaned out of the window and gave them all the Hawaiian good luck sign one last time as I drove away.
Praise the Lord for such wonderful folks!
